October 2024 Parcel Data Update

Written by The Regrid Data Team | Oct 1, 2024 1:14:28 PM

A detail of updates in September of 2024 and a preview of the upcoming counties in our pipeline is below.

Parcel Schema Changes rescheduled for Q1 2025 - We made the determination that we would delay our schema change until Q1 of next year to add greater value to our premium schema. We expect to share detailed information about the changes with you in early November. We will be sure to provide you all necessary details and opportunities for testing prior to release.

More systematic incorporation of Public Lands Data - An astute observer may have noticed this last month with our update of Alaska, but the parcel data professionals here at Regrid have begun to more systematically incorporate parcel data for Federally owned Public Lands, which in many cases are not included in county level local government sources, within our parcel data.  You’ll notice select counties in Idaho and New Mexico were recently updated.

GeoParquet export format - We are starting a preview phase for our new GeoParquet data export format with version 1.1 support. GeoParquet is an advance over our current Parquet format by natively handling geospatial data, allowing for more efficient storage and faster query performance on spatial-based information. During this preview, you'll have the opportunity to test and provide feedback on this new export format. Nationwide SFTP clients will see the new 'GeoParquet' directory in their download directories, cloud clients can request a delivery by reaching out to their account manager.

LBCS Ownership Classification fill rate expansion continues - We are currently expanding the fill rate for the ownership classification field across our Premium dataset. We have added new classifications for private individual and joint ownership, private trust ownership, and commercial ownership. While we are not able to identify all the classifications in the LBCS Ownership dimension, we will be using most of the classes listed on our support site: Standardized Land Use Code Keys

Availability of Matched Building Footprints with Height and Elevation - Our new add-on, Matched Building Footprints with Height comes with 10 new fields related to heights and the entire vertical component such as ground elevation, slope, and number of stories and expands our existing Matched Buildings Footprints product. If these attributes are beneficial to you, we can help you in upgrading to this expanded schema. Let us know if you have any questions – you can contact your Customer Success Manager, or email us anytime you need assistance.

Note: We’ll continue to provide updates for the remainder of the year at our regular volume and pace, but they’ll be less focused on individual states and more so focusing on refreshing some of our older places across the country or those that are deserving of additional updates.

Based on your feedback and county challenges, pipeline planning is always subject to change. As always, please contact us if you have any questions about accessing or using the data, if you find issues with any of our data, or you have any comments or questions about our data in specific areas or states. We also love to hear from you about which counties or regions you’d like to see us update next, as it helps inform our planning process.

Thank you for being a part of Regrid!

Best wishes,
