VP of Software | Working at Regrid

I first met Jerry and Mary from about 500 feet away, in a dimly lit auditorium. At the time, they were in Cleveland on one of their tours through the Midwest, speaking to people about how their software (then Site Control/Loveland) could be an effective tool in the struggle to assist cities and neighborhoods that had been rocked by the fallout from the foreclosure crisis. I was finishing my graduate degree in urban planning, and hearing them speak was fascinating: I, too, was deeply interested in tackling these issues, but I didn’t know that there were people doing work like this regionally. The idea of a tech company coming from outside the establishment and saying things like “public data should be public” while getting deeply involved with the minutiae of foreclosure processes was wild - I had to reach out.

It’s now been about five years since I came on board with Regrid. The company has grown substantially during that time; we still work with many of the nonprofits and neighborhood groups that we met in Regrid’s early days, but we’ve broadened our sights to become established in the wider world of parcel data, a strategic move that has paid dividends.

My role has changed over time too, from initially more client- and project-facing work to VP of Software. I feel fortunate to have this position overseeing our mobile app and website mapping platform  -  it’s challenging, fulfilling work, and it aligns with my interests more than frankly I ever thought a “job in software” could. One key reason for this is that the team we’ve built at Regrid is full of smart, motivated people who care about having a positive impact on the world while working at a successful business; I know it borders on cliche, but it really is a lot more fun to go to work when you’re excited about what you do and inspired by the people around you.

This brings me to the fact that Regrid is currently hiring, and I strongly encourage you to check out the variety of positions available. Our growth over the past couple years has meant that we need to continue to build out our staff to support all the work we’re doing  -  we would love to have you on board with us as we continue to grow and evolve.
